Our Mission

Maslow’s Community is a place where people find practical support, friendly faces, and the confidence to move forward, as part of a shared community.

Maslow’s Community is here to offer a trusted, friendly first place to turn for support in Govan — for people seeking asylum, refugees, and local residents experiencing poverty or isolation.

Our mission is simple: help people stabilise, connect, and progress — from getting the basics, to building friendships and confidence, to taking part in community life and leadership.

Through our Community Shop, Community Hub, and outreach services people can access essentials, feel less alone, and find a safe place they can return to week after week.

Maslow’s is deliberately a mixed community model. By bringing people from different backgrounds together — newcomers and long-term residents — we strengthen social connection, reduce isolation, and build a more welcoming and resilient local community.

We believe people are not passive recipients of help, but active participants in community life. Many people who first come to Maslow’s for support go on to volunteer, lead activities, and shape what happens here. This progression is central to our mission.

At its core, Maslow’s is about dignity, connection, and shared responsibility — creating the conditions for people and communities to thrive together.
