Saturday’s Street Glow-Up brought residents, families and local organisations together around Crossloan Rd, Elderpark St and Uist St for a day of community action, conversation and fun.
The aim of the Street Glow-Up is simple: to bring neighbours together, give local people an opportunity to have their say about the area and, at the same time, make our streets a little brighter and more welcoming.
It was fantastic to see people of all ages getting involved on Saturday. Armed with litter pickers and bags, volunteers headed out to clean up the surrounding streets — and we were especially pleased to see some of our youngest helpers joining in too. The children got stuck into the litter pick alongside the adults and helped us collect plenty of rubbish from around the neighbourhood.
We also spent some time adding a little more colour to the area by planting new plants in the community planter. 🌱 Small improvements like these can make a real difference to how a neighbourhood looks and feels, particularly when local people come together to make them happen.
It was also great to welcome Dr Zubir Ahmed, MP for Glasgow South West, who spent time speaking with local residents and hearing some of their concerns and ideas.
Giving residents a voice is an important part of the Street Glow-Up. Alongside cleaning and improving the physical environment, the events create an informal space where people can talk about what they would like to see change and what could make their streets an even better place to live.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along, got involved and helped make the day such a positive one.
Our fourth and final Street Glow-Up will take place on Saturday 26 September around Craigton Rd, Arthurlie St and Macgregor St. We hope to see you there! 💚
