Yesterday evening, we came together at the Pearce Institute in Govan for Maslow’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) — a chance to catch up, reflect on another busy year, celebrate what we’ve achieved together and share our plans for the future.
This year’s AGM was particularly special as Maslow’s celebrates its 10th anniversary!
Our story began back in February 2016 with Maslow’s Shop CIC, and what a journey it’s been since then! Over the past decade, Maslow’s has grown into a community of volunteers, staff, members, supporters and neighbours, all working together to make Govan a more welcoming and supportive place.
A look back at our year
One of the highlights of the evening was hearing updates from our staff and seeing just how much has been happening across our Shop, Hub and community projects.
And the numbers tell quite a story!
Our Community Shop recorded 11,689 visits between October 2025 and September 2026, including 7,666 voucher service visits and 4,023 cash customer visits.
Beyond the shop, we supplied 1,244 items and packages to hotels, partner projects and others needing support.
Our Hub has been just as busy, with:
6,694 class attendances
2,875 drop-in attendances
24% increase in attendance compared with the previous year
200+ college applications supported
359 bus pass registrations
21 new volunteers recruited and trained
Behind every number are people, conversations, friendships and the everyday difference that our volunteers and staff help make.
New connections, activities and opportunities
It’s also been a year of new partnerships, programmes and community events!
From Spanish classes, gardening and creative workshops to art exhibitions, Summer Glow Ups, live music and cultural celebrations, we’ve continued to bring people together, share skills and create opportunities for everyone to get involved.
We’ve also been working behind the scenes to improve our services, support our volunteers and make our shops run more smoothly.
A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed their time, energy, ideas and support throughout the year!
Having a say in Maslow’s future
An AGM isn’t just about looking back. It’s also an important opportunity for our members to have a say in how Maslow’s is run.
During the evening, we talked about our Board of Trustees, the people helping to guide the organisation, and the importance of good governance, accountability and keeping our community at the heart of everything we do.
We also looked ahead to some of our priorities for the coming year, including building stronger connections with local organisations, exploring opportunities to extend our opening hours and finding new ways to bring neighbours together.
Another important topic was fundraising and how we can make Maslow’s more sustainable for the future, including some exciting new ideas for community fundraising events.
Thank you for being part of Maslow’s!
Most importantly, the evening was a lovely reminder that Maslow’s is all about people.
Whether you volunteer, donate, attend a class, visit our Shop or Hub, work alongside us or simply help spread the word, you’re part of what makes this community special.
A big thank you to everyone who came along to our AGM, everyone who shared their updates and ideas, and all those who have supported Maslow’s over the past year.
Here’s to 10 years of Maslow’s — and to everything we can achieve together in the years ahead!
We’ve shared some photos, highlights and infographics from the evening below, so everyone can have a look at what we’ve been up to and where we’re heading next.
